Satellite monitoring
Castalia Ecolmar, in partnership with Telespazio S.p.A. performs a monitoring activity of the national territorial waters utilizing a combination of the three satellites equipped with SAR sensors: ERS-2, ENVISAT and RADARSAT.

Vessel’s radar system
Part of the Castalia Ecolmar fleet is equipped with an oil slick radar detection device.
This kind of sensor is able to give the following additional features to the naval fleet:
Increases the range of area covered by patrolling service;
Operates for oil spill recovery and detection 24 hours a day;
Implements the capacity of evaluation of the oil spill area;

Oil spill drifting model
In order to optimize the antipollution activities, Castalia Ecolmar is equipped with advanced software able to predict the behaviour of oil spills or other chemical harmful substances released into the sea in case of accident. This activity is essential in conjunction with the remote sensing activities to immediately direct and coordinate the antipollution means.
