OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE AT SEA
The fleet patrolling the Italian coasts is made up of 58 vessels located in the major national ports.
Vessels are subdivided as follows:
9 supply vessels equipped with advanced and refined devices which allow the mechanical recovery of hydrocarbons, solid material and carcasses; the chemical aggression of pollutants, fire-fighting and rescue operations.
12 intermediate vessels used for the same kind of operations with a hydrocarbon stocking capacity of 40 cubic meters, a speed of 10 knots and basically likewise equipped.
37 coastal ships having specific task in the field of coast protection.
OPERATIONAL STRUCTURE
ON THE MAINLAND
This structure aims at steadily ensuring the regular performance and provision of the services envisaged by the Agreement with the Environment Ministry. It hinges around:
Centro di Coordinamento di Roma (CCR) (Rome Coordination Centre)
It is in charge of the relations with the Environment Ministry and coordinates the activities carried out by the other structures on the mainland and the vessels.
Centri Antinquinamento principali (CAP) (Main Antipollution Centres)
They are located in Rome, Genoa, Naples, Cagliari, Catania, Bari and Ravenna and are in charge of transmitting guidelines and orders to the naval commands. |
