CASTALIA ECOLMAR S.C.p.A. is a private company dealing with marine environmental protection.

The 34 share holders include FISIA ITALIMPIANTI S.p.A., the controlling shareholder, and many of the most outstanding Italian ship owners who operate in antipollution and oil spill emergency response fields.

In December 1998 Castalia Ecolmar S.C.p.A. reached a three years Agreement with the Environment Ministry for the protection of the Italian coasts and marine ecosystem. Subsequently, the service has been extended by the Italian Authorities till December 2007.

The main activities envisaged are as follows:
Patrolling of territorial waters with specific attention to the protected sea areas and the close sea waters;

Sea protection through the mechanical removal and phisical disposal of liquid and solid pollutants;
Collection at sea, stocking, transport and disposal of liquid and solid material;

Training, promotion and diffusion of activities designed to protect the sea environment.
Upon request of the Environment Ministry, these activities can be also carried out in international waters in compliance with the international conventions signed by the Italian Government.
